Here, you’ve got four beaches to take in and a lot of great restaurants and shops to peruse. Another lovely beach town is Kennebunkport. You can also walk the shoreline at Marginal Way or take a scenic boat ride from Perkins Cove. There are also plenty of places to stay along the beach as well as ample eateries that feature some of the most signature beach foods, like seafood and ice cream. Ogunquit, located in York County, has two beaches. With 228 miles of general shoreline (and quite a bit more if you include the tidal shoreline), Maine definitely has some beach towns, many of them being some of the most scenic places in ME. And even if you miss sunrise, the views of the ocean and Mount Desert Island are phenomenal. The most popular access is via the 2.2-mile North Ridge Trail. At 1,527 feet, it’s the tallest mountain in the park and for a few months out of the year, it sees the first glimpses of sunlight. ![]() Want to see the first sunrise in the US? Head to Acadia National Park’s Cadillac Mountain. Not only is it a gorgeous sight with an assortment of waterfalls dotting the trail to the main event, but it’s also pretty accessible with only a 226-foot elevation gain. In West Forks, there’s the 1.7-mile Moxie Falls Trail, which takes you out to the namesake’s 90-foot waterfall. With over 17 million acres of forest within, there is certainly a lot of hiking amongst the most beautiful places in Maine. ![]()
